This policy explains what information Widespread collects through this website, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the waitlist, the survey, the referral dashboard and leaderboard, and our newsletter. The Widespread app will have its own privacy policy covering location data and app features when it launches.
What we collect
- Your name and email address, when you join the waitlist or complete the survey.
- Whether you're interested as an individual or a business, if you tell us.
- Your survey answers, including anything you write in the optional free-text question.
- Referral information: your referral code, who referred you (if anyone), and how many people you've referred.
- Fraud-prevention signals: a one-way hashed form of your IP address and of a random identifier stored in your browser. We never store your raw IP address alongside your signup.
How we use it
- To keep your place on the waitlist and tell you when Widespread launches.
- To send our newsletter with product updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- To run the referral contest: counting confirmed referrals and showing standings.
- To detect and prevent fake or duplicate signups in the referral contest.
- To decide what to build. Survey results are reported in aggregate, including to our investors. We don't share your name or email with them.
What's public
If you appear on the referral leaderboard, we show your first name and the initial of your last name, along with your referral count. We never publish your email address.
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers to run this site, such as hosting, email delivery, and product analytics. They process data on our behalf and only as needed to provide their service. We do not sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist and survey information until Widespread launches and for as long as you stay subscribed to updates. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email us at hello@widespread.app and we'll respond promptly. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link at the bottom of any message.
